Puppy Import Brokers
Due to the growing popularity of the breed, and difficulty in breeding any of the bulldog breeds, has unfortunately led to an increase in sale of puppies that are imported from questionable breeders overseas. The puppies are often purchased in bulk, or by the litter for the sole purpose of reselling the puppies for a much higher price then purchased. Puppies from these types of brokers often have a variety of health problems later on related to improper breeding and care. Parentage of these puppies is often inaccurate or misrepresented and puppies sold may be represented as coming from champions or "top champion lines."
French Bulldogs are a difficult dog to breed well, and serious breeders invest time and money in research, health testing, conformation showing and obedience. It can be tempting buying to buy from one of the first sources you find, either a breeder, broker or pet store, but with the health issues known to this breed, and the horrors that puppy mill bred and commercially brokered puppies face, it's very important that you do your home work. Making sure that your new puppy comes from the best possibly beginning.
What is an Import
Broker?
An import
broker is someone that purchases whole litters or puppies in bulk for the reason
of reselling them, and many pet stores purchase their bulldog breeds for re-sale
in the same way. Puppies from these brokers are usually from puppy mills and
often come with a great deal of health problems due to the lack of health
testing. Always ask for paperwork showing the health checks the puppies have had
to date, and written health clearances of the sire/dam. Puppy import brokers
will never have the mother available on site for you to view as they are often
still in Europe, and they usually have puppies available all the time, or can
bring one in if they do not have one that matches what you are looking for.
Registration papers may or may not be presented, but American or Canadian Kennel
Club registration is never offered as they were not born in the USA or Canada.
